    2 out of 5 Starters...

    Thursday, December 28, 2006, 11:13 AM [General]

...ARE HOUNDS!!  League Points Leader, Jeff Christian, and League 3-Stars Leader, Chris Richards, were selected as Starters for the 2006-2007 All Star Game.  They are both on their way to having record setting seasons.  Both have already reached milestones and were less than half-way through the season.

    1+2+2+2=12??

    Monday, December 18, 2006, 07:13 PM [General]

Steelhound Fans...I have a question.  How is it that we have the #1 and #2 Point Leaders, we're 2nd in the Division, and have the 2nd best Home record in the league...but somehow, we're only 12th out of 17 in Attendance?

I think it's time to treat games like AA meetings...BRING A FRIEND.  And if were lucky, they'll stick with you thru all 12 games...err...I mean steps!!  Why else do you think Molson sponsers hockey!?!

Now we need an OAKLEY Goalie

    Tuesday, December 5, 2006, 05:07 AM [General]

Of the 7 players selected so far this season as the Oakley Player of the Week...3 times a Steelhound has taken the honors. Congratulations to Jeff Christian on his amazing 10-point week, coming in just 4 games.  This great points streak moves Jeff to #2 among CHL Points Leaders, right behind teammate and 2-time Oakley recipient, Chris Richards.  Despite the lackluster start to the 8-game road trip (1-2-1), the Hounds are still ranked #2 in the Northeast Division and #3 overall.  Not bad for a 2nd-year team, eh?!?  LET'S GO HOUNDS!!

    2 out of 3 OT's ain't bad...

    Monday, November 27, 2006, 04:28 PM [General]

This past week and weekend saw the Hounds and Rayz fight it out to the near end, all three nights!!  Wednesday - Shootout     Friday - Shootout     Satruday - Overtime     What a series!!

Special thanks got out to Matt "Joe Dirt" Turek for being a good sport with the verbal abuse.  Also, Congratulations are in order for Jason Baird...although you seem to have a little temper, you still managed to record 3 goals and 4 assists, earning you the Oakley Player of the Week! Well done Jason!!

...and a special note to Steve Pelletier - don't expect to see a change in your MySpace numbers...you did NOT make any new friends last week...you're a cheap shot artist that cries when you get paid back with an elbow!!

To all the Rayz (except Pelletier), thanks for an exciting 3 days of hockey...we'll see you in January!!

How would you like your goal??

    Friday, November 24, 2006, 07:48 AM [General]

Power Play?? Maybe a Penalty Shot??  No, let's make it a extra large Shootout Goal.  Turkey Day Eve saw a great game all the way til the end.  But it was the Hound's Brad Patterson that put the final nail in the Corpse (I mean Corpus) Coffin!!  HOUNDS FAN LOVE JOE DIRT!!!

In the past 4 days, the Steelhounds have signed 2 players from the Arizona Sundogs organization.  These signings occurred just days before the Hounds travel to Arizona to play back-to-back games against the Sundogs.

What's next??  Should we expect to see some trades/signings with players from Tulsa next week??  Hey...we'll take Matt Hanson back!!

Nevertheless....let's welcome our new additions Doug Orr and Tab Lardner

GO HOUNDS - #1 in the CHL Coaches Poll.

After a great start to the 2nd season, it's no suprise that Youngstown (#1 in the Division & Tied for #1 in the League) earned the top honors.  Much respect to the Blazers and the Sundogs for their great opening games (ranked #2 and #3 respectively).  We look forward to the competition and we'll most definitely see you in the playoffs.  Being the halfway point between Cleveland and Pittsburgh (football central), hockey is still finding its niche in the Youngstown area.  But with a team like this, we're bound to see our fanbase grow.  We're a new team with a smaller than average fanbase, but we're just as wild and crazy...especially behind the visiting team bench!!!
